#Grateful - Celebrating our 2020 Year 12 students
Last night I was so grateful to be able to attend our 2020 Year 12 Graduation Dinner. This was not just because, with a broken foot, I can’t walk anywhere at the moment! It was because 2020 was shaping up to be the year that we wouldn’t be able to get together in person to celebrate our amazing group of 2020 Year 12 students. But last night we did, and I think I can speak for all who attended that we were very grateful for that.
There are many words to describe 2020, and as this is a G-Rated newsletter I am not going to repeat them here. Instead, I am going to focus on what has been great about 2020. The young people who were gathered last night to celebrate each other’s successes, experiences and companionship are the perfect example of what has been great this year.
Although restrictions meant that our graduating Year 12 students could only have one parent or guardian each with them last night, it was wonderful for them to have at least one of their loved ones join in last night’s celebrations. Parents, guardians and families should be so proud of the amazing young women and men their 2020 graduating children have become. Moama Anglican Grammar is certainly proud of this group of students and look forward to hearing about their future endeavours in years to come.
This time of year can be regarded as the “changing of the guard” as one group of student leaders leave the school, the next group are inducted. We have been very lucky at our school that each year we get a group of inspiring student leaders stepping up to lead and support the students of our school. The 2021 group of student leaders are no exception. A huge congratulations to:
- Oscar Miller and Abbey Champion - our 2021 School Captains
- Jenna Park and Ashah Downie – our 2021 School Vice Captains
- Charlotte McGillivray and Andrew Martin – our 2021 SRC Captains
I know I speak for all staff is saying how excited we all are about working with these student leaders from now on and into 2021.
As 2020 comes to an end and our border restrictions ease there is much to look forward to. In the meantime, there is still plenty of learning to happen between now and the end of the school year. Let’s all continue to work together to make sure the last weeks of the school year are productive for our valued Moama Anglican Grammar students.
