CBCA Book Week “Curious Creatures – Wild Minds’

Sadly it was a very different Book Week to normal due to COVID-19, however we still had a fantastic display courtesy of Mrs Waters, including a life size furry monster!!  Whilst we missed our usual author visit, we were fortunate to have author David Lawrence virtually visit a lucky Year 7 English class.  Students are able to borrow from our display of nominated and award books.

David Lawrence Virtual Visit

On Wednesday 21 October Year 7C were treated to a virtual visit from author David Lawrence.  David had been booked to visit the school in August, but due to COVID-19 we have had to reschedule his visit to 2021.  As a taster for next year, David talked to the class about how he became an author, his books and answered questions from students.  David has worked extensively as a comedy writer for TV, as well as authoring a number of sport novels, including series with Cyril Rioli and Eloise Southby.  The session was recorded and shown as part of the Reading Program.  

Overdue Books

We still have a large number of books overdue, many from the beginning of the year.  We have recently emailed applicable students and parents these details.  Can you please ensure your student returns their overdue books promptly, as any outstanding loans at the end of the school year will be processed and a book replacement fee will be charged to your school account.  Ultimately we would prefer the books back, so please be alert to any overdue emails you receive in the meantime.  Occasionally we do have internet issues that may affect our loan information, so please email me if you have any queries: msnooks@fhs.vic.edu.au

VCE English Study Guides and Films 

Just a reminder that VCE students can access a wide range of study guides, films and audiobooks for all English texts, as well as useful videos on essay writing and exam preparation on Smartsuite.
