Co-curricular - Junior Sport
This weekend saw the poor weather start to roll in. Many games hung in the balance with Tennis and 5C2 Cricket unfortunately being cancelled. Despite the inclement weather, the remaining Junior School teams pushed on through the light showers and wind to complete round 8 of the summer season.
There were a number of close games and again the boys from St Patrick’s were able to steady their nerves and come away with a win. The Basketball fraternity did exceptionally well, recording only 3 losses over the 12 teams (2 games were internal fixtures). The boys again displaying great sportsmanship and representing the College with aplomb.
A reminder that we all need to be COVID safe and respect the procedures in place at each of the venues we visit. There is a document on Team App (documents tab) that explains the procedures and protocols for each of the IPSHA schools. I would ask that you familiarise yourselves with these procedures prior to venturing out to the schools hosting the weekend’s competitions. You should be able to click on the hyperlink for the school you are visiting to see their COVID plans.
Some advance notice for week 5 training. As Year 6 will be away on camp at this time, only Year 5 students will train. Training will be held on Monday only from 3.10pm – 4.45pm. There will be no other training that week. Teams will be combined where numbers are low or when a staff member, who usually coaches, is away on Year 6 camp.
As we fast approach the end of the year, I regret to inform you that we will be unable to hold our Junior School Presentation Night. Boys will be awarded their trophies for best and fairest, team awards and representative honours, however this will occur during school hours. As such, we will not be able to have parents come to watch the presentation of awards. This is in keeping with our current COVID-19 procedures.
