From the Principal

Welcome to 2020

I hope all families have had some time to relax and enjoy Christmas and New Year.  I hope you and your loved ones have been able to stay safe during this time and that none of you have been impacted by the devastating bushfires.

We are all looking forward to the year and from walking around the school today our students and staff all sound very excited to be back.

A central part of Moama Anglican Grammar are our Core Values and we have made time to remind staff and students about these this week.  The values have been altered a little this year but we believe we have maintained the essence of what is important for us to follow as a guide to all aspects of our lives.  We have three core values of compassion, respect and integrity.  We will use these core values in our decision making, to model as staff and students.  We feel these are the central values for a connected and caring community.

At the end of last year we had two teachers leave after Presentation night and we were unable to thank and acknowledge their contribution to the school.  Ms Casey Frame (Year 7 Coordinator, PDHPE and Community and Family Studies teacher) has taken an opportunity in Melbourne and Carolyn Phillips (Individual Learning Plan Coordinator – Secondary, Legal Studies and HSIE teacher) has accepted a position as an education officer with a local business.  We are very grateful for their dedication and support of the students and wish them all the best in the future.

We welcome the following new staff:

Primary:

Rachael McMahon – Rachael joins the school to teach Year 3.

Rebecca Turner – Rebecca joins us to teach Year 4.

Secondary:

Matthew Brown – Year 9 Level Coordinator and History teacher.

Darcy Hall – PDHPE and Community and Family Studies teacher.

Karen Myers –HSIE, Business Studies and Economics teacher.

Joanna Hughes – English teacher.

Across the School:

Megan Height –Teacher-Librarian and overseeing the Resource Centre.

Kevin Turner –Year 5 to 12 Learning Diversity Coordinator and will coordinate the learning support team.

Deborah Duncan is the new Year 7 Coordinator and Ms Codie Ellis is the new Year 8 Coordinator.

While it is always disappointing to lose staff, it is also a great opportunity for us to learn from the insights, knowledge and experience our new staff bring with them to Moama Anglican Grammar.
