The Hub

The Hub is not only a place for our PSD students to go, but also a place open and welcoming to everyone at MFGSC. A place you can come to for some time out, peace and quiet, or that little extra understanding. Our Learning Mentors Kerry, Jo, Ash, Tammy and PSD Leader Robyn are always there ready with a friendly face, laughter and support where needed.

At the end of the school year, The Hub holds extra transition days for students who need that little bit of extra support before the Grade 6/ Year 7 orientation days.

In December 2018 we held two of these days, with 11 Grade 6 students who are coming into Year 7 in 2019. On these days we give the students a tour around the school with a few current Year 7 students and answer any questions the Grade 6 students may have. We also have a few art/craft activities and a cooking activity as well. These days are great to help ease any anxiety students may have and also helps to give them a bit of familiarity around the school before the orientation days come along with ALL the upcoming students.

Near the end of every semester, we hold a working bee in the Hub. It is a day when all the Learning Mentors  come together and help our students catch up on work due for handing in before the end of Semester. It is always a hive of activity and I think both Learning Mentors and students leave at the end of the day feeling very accomplished!

We look forward to a wonderful 2019!
