MATHS

Year 10 Maths

The NEW homework program for Mathematics in Year 10 General has started off well.  Every Friday during Period 4, some of my students are willing to share how they achieved their answers when working on the problem solving questions.

As you can see from Week 1 that Jazz and Montana were working together and last week, Ella was able to show how she worked out the area of a square that was turned on its side and Brooke explained how she arrived at the answer of sheep, shorn by so-many shearers!

An excellent effort from everyone so far.

Formative assessment is alive and well in my class.  We were working on the NEW topic of 'Linear Graphs' this week.

Students were given an equation and had to find the gradient and plot the graph. Then they needed to work backwards, given the points of x and y intercepts and then  write the equation.

To give them a brain break, I always sneak in a quick, ‘draw a dragon’ question which throws them, but it makes them laugh and allows them to shake off the stress!
