Dear Parents and Students,

Term 3 has certainly been a very hectic term.  There were number of School Assessed Course Work  tasks (SACs) and many events and activities organised by the students.

Our students are very proactive in organising events and activities that bring the school community together in celebrating school spirit and camaraderie.

We had the Lip Sync Battles, Battle of the Bands, Student versus Staff Sports Competitions and Music Soiree.  I would like to congratulate all the student leaders for their work in organising these activities that provide a great break amidst the demands of School Assessed Coursework and assignments.

I would also like to congratulate and thank the students who helped in the Breakfast Club.  Every Tuesday, students enjoy breakfast provided by the Breakfast Club.  All the above-mentioned activities provide JMSS with a great sense of community and team spirit.  We are very proud of our students for their initiatives and willingness to contribute to the school community.

Appointment of School Captains and Vice-Captains

Our school is very fortunate to have a large number of applications from our students for the 2019 School Captaincy.  It is indeed an excellent reflection of the passion of our students to contribute to the JMSS community.  I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank all the applicants for their courage and willingness to stand for the leadership positions.

The calibre of the applicants is very high.  The Selection Panel (two Principal Class Officers, Student Leadership Coordinator and a Student Representative) had a very difficult time to short-list the applications for interviews.  The applicants are well endowed with different character strengths, capabilities and attributes.  The leadership attributes such as humility, respect, integrity and courage were common threads of attributes indicated at the selection interviews.

The other leadership positions (House Captains, Sports, Captains, Music Captains, Media Captains, Performing Arts Captains, Sustainability Captains, STEM Captains and Interact Club Executives) will be announced at the first school assembly next term.

School Captaincy

I would like to congratulate the following students on their appointments:

Francine Machin  - 2019 School Captain

Raj Gaddam – 2019 School Captain

Sadhana Sridhar – 2019 Vice Captain

Ned Callendar – 2019 Vice Captain

Happy Holidays

I would like to wish all students a very restful holiday.  I hope you will use the holidays to rest, reinvigorate and recharge.
