Science

The students have continued to improve and expand their learning in Earth and Space Sciences this term. I have really impressed by how much the students already know and what they have been able to share with other students.

Foundation students have been busily learning about the weather, with a particular focus on clouds over the past couple of weeks. A great way to learn about clouds was to model a cloud in a jar! They can tell you all about different types of clouds and had lots of fun expressing their new knowledge in an art piece.

Junior School students have been learning lots about groundwater and surface water. With all the rain around, there has been a lot of opportunity to really test what we know! Students have enjoyed undertaking experiments simulating rain on different surfaces and testing to see what happens. The kids also loved modelling rain over sand to see how water flows as a river and how dams change a water course.

Middle School has been focusing on extending their knowledge about day and night and what actually makes that happen. They have been undertaking lots of modelling using different sized balls and torches to simulate celestial bodies. Misconceptions have been cleared up as lots of new learning takes place.

Senior School have also been focusing on space but with a wider focus on our place in the solar system. The last couple of weeks has seen the focus shift to how we revolve and orbit and what that means for day and night as well as the seasons.

Visual Arts

It has been another busy couple of weeks in Visual Arts. We have been continuing on with our art skills through projects. The foundation students have been focusing on size and shape. Juniors have been working on their sewing bags, middles have been manipulating wire and seniors have been working on their sculptures of their favourite book characters. Thanks for your continued support with resources. Kym Wallace

PE

In PE it has been fantastic to see all the students continuing to build their skills base and using them in games. Students have been focused on building their understanding of games requiring striking with their feet. It's also been wonderful to see students co-operating when playing and displaying sportsmanship.

District Athletics Carnival is next week and I am looking forward to spending the day with the attending athletes as they display their prowess in their events!

Production

Production rehearsals are coming along beautifully and the students are all doing a fantastic job in building their stage craft through learning their lines and dances. Everyone is bringing something unique to their role and it's wonderful to see such enriching rehearsals! We are so excited for the main performance in a couple of weeks!
