Benilde

Benilde

Has had a smooth but very busy start to the year. House swimming was one of the first house competition events for the year and Benilde powered through the water!  We finished second to Solomon by 6 points.

The Hackett Mile was held on the Monday before the house athletics carnivals.   Thanks to all the boys who stepped up and ran on the day.

House athletics was a fantastic day with our Benilde boys offering to fill events all day.  We pride ourselves on our ‘bums on seats’ policy and it certainly had positive results with the seniors finishing a respectable second.  Congratulations to Mattias Valenzuela Year 10 and Caleb Millar and Tinashe Mpakame Year 12 who received year level student athlete awards.

The junior boys won their athletics carnival which gave Benilde a win overall. Congratulations Benilde and we are still in with a chance at taking back the Beda Shield.

A number of fine young men from Benilde also represented St Bede’s College in the ACC swimming carnival.  Riley Roberts, Charlie Rogalsky and Max Vaughan.  Congratulations for all your efforts and dedication to the sport over such an extended period of time.

Well done to all our students who received Academic and General Excellence awards at the Awards evening on 27 of February.  We recognise the following students – Chester Ryan, Daniel L’Abbate, Dillon Bulman, James Eadie, Josh Oliver, Max Vaughan, Nicholas Looker, Nicholas Nikolitsis and Patrick Allman.  A fine group of young men dedicated to their studies as well as sporting and cultural pursuits.

Its school production time again with our St Bede’s boys presenting Grease.  Congratulations to Lachlan Mindum for his successful audition for a role in this production.   Mentone Girls Grammar School are presenting The Witches, congratulations to Chester Ryan on his role in this stage production.

Mission Action Day, a big day in our College calendar, is coming up on  Friday 23 March.  Our boys participate in a liturgy then complete a run or walk to raise money for the Lasallian foundation and our outreach programs.  This is followed by lunch and activities which have proven to be a real ‘hit with the students and staff!  I would encourage all our boys to collect donations so that we can continue our valuable work we do with our other Lasallian schools overseas.

Benilde house will continue to sponsor a pre- school in Sri Lanka this year.  Our donation made through the Lasallian Foundation, goes towards providing the young children with clothing, books, food and shelter.

I encourage all our students from Benilde house to get involved and make the most of their time here at St Bede’s College.

Let’s keep the house spirit alive!

A reminder to parents that Parent teacher interviews are coming up at the commencement of term two.  Shortly you will have access to online interview bookings.

All students should now be settled in and focusing on their studies.  Work hard and make your lives extraordinary Benilde Boys!!!!
