Year 8 News

All 250 Year 8 students have begun the year well. They have immersed themselves in to their studies and already embraced the many extra-curricular activities on offer.

Each Year 8 student studies a broad range of subjects across the year: Art, Drama, English, Geography, History, Indonesian or Italian or Language Workshop, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Religious Education, Science and STEM.

Outside the classroom walls, the students have participated in the House Swimming Carnival, Hackett Mile, House Athletics Carnival, ACC Swimming Carnival and a lunchtime Dodgeball Competition. A keen group of musicians arrive early for their morning rehearsals before classes commence and our budding actors are frantically learning their lines and dance steps for the College musical, Grease. Currently, quite a number of students are in training for the up-coming ACC Athletics Carnival and 18 Class Captains have been recently elected to represent their respective Homerooms.

Congratulations to Henry Owens who has been declared the Year 8 Swimming Champion for 2018 and to Sean Grella (Runner-Up) and Max Blackie and Jasper Moodie who tied for 3rd place.

In the Hackett Mile, Alex Gibson out ran his competitors over a distance of 1500 metres. Lachie Harvey came in 2nd, Nikolas Atsis in 3rd and Xavier Russo in 4th position out of a field of 16 runners.

House Athletics

In the House Athletics Carnival, Mark Banducci was declared the Year 8 Athletics Champion with Xavier Russo as runner-up and Lachy Parker in 3rd place. See front page of this article.
