Weeks 1 & 2

We've made a great start to Term 3... minus all the winter bugs! So many students struck down by the germs... thanks to parents for keeping sick children home.  It's a fine line between missing multiple days of school and making sure your child is fully recovered and not spreading germs.  Thanks to our families for their notifications via Sentral - keep up the great communication!

Thanks so much to the families for their kind donations of freddo frogs and and pink musk sticks.  This is certainly a great start for the prizes of our stalls come our Community Fair - SATURDAY 19th OCTOBER.  I will be sending out a timetable in the coming weeks for all families to select an hour of the day they are available to be a part of this special community day.  The fair is from 10am to 3pm.  We are raising money for our Junior Playground which will be upgraded over the summer period.

We've been busy learning to...

be story tellers.  Students have been using visual pictures (minus the words) to develop oral language skills as they share their understanding of stories.  Students are developing their understanding of using characters names and not basic pronouns like they, he, she and someone.  Students are practising the use of correct grammar and full sentence structure.  They are getting very good at developing a typical sentence starter for a narrative story.  This is something that you can practise with them at home in order for them to consolidate skills taught at school.

Check us out!

We've also been creative with our narrative writing.  We are learning about what an author does and what things author's include in their stories.  We are thinking of having an author's afternoon where we share our finished stories with you... we are a few weeks of this so will keep you posted.  Ways to support your child at home with their writing is providing them with opportunities to write at home in notebooks, scrapbooks and on spare paper.  They can write about the activities they've done or about the things that they read in stories or watch on tv.

Maths has seen us exploring patterns and number patterns - this has been fun!

100th Day of School Celebration

Next Friday 2nd August is our 100th Day of School Celebration.  A notice has been sent home today regarding what your child can bring for our lunch celebration.  You are welcome to stick around for photos at 9.10am and then come to assembly at 3pm.  We are so excited!!!

Father's Day Breakfast

Please spread the word within your families about inviting a dad, stepdad, grandad, pa, uncle, older brother to our special breakfast at 8am to celebrate Father's Day.  This is a great opportunity for dad's to see our classroom in action over a coffee and a bacon roll.
