Principal's Report

Welcome Back!

What a wonderful and productive start to Term 3 we have had at Kilsyth Primary School. It has been fantastic to see students, staff and parents arriving with bright smiles each day, despite the chilly mornings.

Celebration "Wheels" Day

Students have done a fantastic job of displaying our school values: Respect, Resilience and Excellence so far this term, acquiring enough feathers and birds to earn a Celebration Day! Students voted to hold a Wheels Day tomorrow (Thursday 1st August), which will involve students bringing their bikes, scooters, etc (and helmets!) to school, and participating in one hour of wheely good times out on the basketball court.

Thanks from Miss Anna Johnstone

Thank you to all the smiley students and friendly parents who have introduced themselves or each other in my first few weeks at Kilsyth Primary School. I have had a wonderful time visiting classrooms and finding out all about the school, and look forward to working with you all. What a wonderful school community to work in!

Foundation 100 Days of School

Foundation students celebrate 100 days of school on Friday. They have done an excellent job of settling into KPS this year, and we look forward to celebrating the centenary of days with them. Congratulations Foundation students!

Farewell Beck

On Monday we said 'See you soon!' to Beck Hambly, one of our valued Education Support staff. We wish her luck in her future endeavours working in Disability Support Services. She will be visiting regularly, to ensure the choir and production preparations continue smoothly, and we look forward to seeing her around the school.

Great to hear from our students!

Each year the Department of Education asks students from Years 4 to 6 to complete a survey about their attitudes to school.  Aptly called the Student Attitudes to School Survey, this is a great opportunity for students to confidentially share their feelings about their experience of school.

We have seen significant increases and improvements in our results from this survey over the past couple of years and this year is no exception.  Not only have we maintained the positive perceptions of students in critical areas such as  Effective Teaching Time and Resilience, we have improved further in areas of Differentiated Learning Challenge, Stimulated Learning, Classroom Behaviour, Effort and Motivation.  This is great evidence of the positive impact our SWPBS approach and the work our teachers and students have been putting in to setting, pursuing and maintaining high expectations for a positive and productive learning environment at Kilsyth Primary School.

In the graph above, the coloured columns show the percentage students responding positive in each area of the survey.  The black lines across each column indicate the responses from 2018.  You can easily see the areas where improvements have been made.

Thanks to everyone for the efforts you continue to put into making Kilsyth PS the place to "Be the Best You Can Be!"
