Principal's message

Dear parents and carers,

I would like to say a big well done and thank you to all the students, families and staff for their amazing work and support during remote learning and our staggered return to school. As of the Monday the 1st of November all students will return to learning at school full time.

Covid Safe Measures

We still have covid safe measures in place to make sure our school is adhering to all requirements and recommendations.

  • Students are expected to wash their hands across the day and hand sanitiser is available in all classrooms
  • Masks are required for all 3-6 students when they are inside, with disposable mask available at school if needed. Well done to the 3-6's this week for all having masks on indoors!
  • Masks are highly recommended for students in F-2, this can be discussed further with your child's teacher.
  • QR codes for check ins are placed at the front office for all visitors to the school
  • Staff at school are 100% fully vaccinated
  • The school’s cleaning team are responsible for daily cleaning, including high touch points such as desks, door handles and toilets.

Access to School Grounds

Parents and carers are now able to come into the school yard during drop off and pick up times, but must stay outside the buildings. If you need to speak to the office, please call and a staff member will meet you in the car park.

Changes in School Operations

With the new changes in Victoria, schools have also been allowed to open up more.

  • Assemblies will begin again on Friday afternoons for staff and students only
  • Transition for our 2022 Foundation students will be able to go ahead onsite
  • Swimming will be back on in weeks 8 and 9 with further information to come

Grade 3-6 Camp

We were so excited to find out the camps can now go ahead. Just in time for our 3-6 students to go to Phillip Island. Camp will run from Monday the 8th till Wednesday the 10th November. Check Compass for further information.

Pleas contact your child's teacher if you have any questions.

2022 Foundation Transition

Transition for our 2022 foundation children will be happening in late November. We are looking forward to welcoming all our new students for 2022. Further information will be available to families in the next week.

Acting Assistant Principal

I'd like to welcome Andrea Hennessey as Acting Assistant Principal for Term 4. Andrea comes to us from Sunshine PS and has worked as a consultant at Debney Meadows PS. Her expertise lies in Literacy and Numeracy and she will work closely with teachers and consultants to develop their capacity.

Hats on in Term Four

Don’t forget to pack a hat in your child’s schoolbag with their name on it! We will be using outdoor learning spaces as much as possible in term four. Your child will also be playing outside during recess and lunchtime. You may also wish to put sunscreen on at the start of the day and put a tube in your child’s back for later in the day.

You can buy a hat for your child at the gate in the morning, no cash please.

Mental Health in Primary Schools Program

We are very excited to announce that our school will be involved in the Mental Health in Primary Schools Pilot in 2022. The MHiPS Pilot is a Victorian Government initiative, designed to promote a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing.

The Pilot is being delivered in partnership with Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and the Melbourne Graduate School of Education.

The Pilot provides our school with funding during 2022 to employ a teacher-qualified professional as a Mental Health and Wellbeing Coordinator who will assist to lead a whole-school approach to mental health prevention and early intervention approaches that are embedded in the classroom. This will enable us to further deepen our current practices to support our students’ wellbeing.

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Coordinator will complement the school’s existing wellbeing team and strengthen our connections with broader Catholic Education Office staff, local community services and other health professionals to engage and build relationships with appropriate mental health and wellbeing supports.

Wind Damage

Due to all the wild weather on Friday the 29th of October, we had one of our big gum trees come down in the wind. It meant that the Napier street building was closed on the Friday until the tree could be cut down and made safe.
