OKTOBERFEST

We are very excited to announce that our biennial whole-school Oktoberfest celebration will take place on Monday, 22nd November.

Students are invited to dress in either:

  • The colours of the German flag: black, red and gold (yellow)
  • The colours of the Bavarian flag: blue and white
  • The traditional Bavarian costumes: Dirndlkleid and Lederhose

Students will also receive their gingerbread heart on this day (if previously ordered).

The day will commence with a whole-school assembly via Webex, during which the German action song ‘Wackel mit dem Po’/Wiggle your Bottom and a small parade of ‘best-dressed’ students will take place.

After lunch students will have the opportunity to engage in fun, cultural German activities and games in their classrooms.

During the Junior school assembly at 2:45 pm Foundation students will perform a song and dance in the hall for all students to watch via Webex and the second German action song ‘So ein schöner Tag (Das Fliegerlied)’/Such a nice day (The plane song) will be sung.

Students have been learning about the Munich Oktoberfest during Remote and Flexible Learning and preparing for this special day in the German classroom by making Oktoberfest hats and singing the song ‘Mein Hut, der hat drei Ecken’/My hat, it has three corners.
