1/2 T

It has been great to have many of our students recommencing onsite learning this week!  We are very much looking forward to having everyone back together on a permanent basis really soon!

Not much longer now…..

Maths

Last week we were learning all about MONEY.

We looked at the coins and notes that we use here in Australia - and even looked at some REALLY old ones - some were even older than Miss Terri!

We practised recognising coins from their colour, size and pictures and learned that putting them in order of their value is different to ordering them by their size.

We added money amounts together in our money jars and worked out how many coins or notes we would need to buy certain things - such as popcorn at the Monster Movies!

We also discovered that we can make money amounts in many different ways and set up our own shops.

This week we have found out that objects can move with a flip, a slide or a turn.

We have used all sorts of words to describe the position or location of things,

such as above, below, besides, in front of, on top, underneath, right, left and many more.

Literacy

During writing last week we were continuing our amazing work on poetry.

We have been using all sorts of WOW words, similes and onomatopoeia in the different poems we have written, including acrostics and shape poems.

This week we have been revising what makes up a sentence - all the important parts we need, such as capital letters at the beginning, endmarks at the end,

and making sure that they make sense.

Change - Inquiry / Ed in Faith

God’s dream for us is to live in peace and joy.

Last week we looked at what can bring us joy,

and how sometimes things that make us sad, might actually change to bring us joy.

At times, it can be that something someone says or does that changes,

but at other times it can simply be the way we think or our attitude that changes.

We have also been super lucky this week to have two wonderful incursions!

On Monday we spent some time with Ollie, who showed us how to be safe

when we are online.   We need to have our trusted adults to talk to if we are ever unsure, keep our personal information private and to have a balance between screen time and green time.

Then on Wednesday we had an amazing online visit to the Zoo, where we became Wild Explorers, learning about the changes that go on in different animal life cycles.
