Saint Francis Xavier - Principal's Report

Term 4 - Week 3

Dear Parents and Friends of St Francis Xavier,

On behalf of the team at St Francis Xavier Primary School, I would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to all members of the school community for the support shown to the school over the past week.

I have spoken to a number of parents over the last few days and I know many of you are wondering what the return to onsite learning means for your children. Primarily, it is just so important for them to be able to reconnect with their their friends and teachers and start getting back to their normal way of life.  I have been on most yard duties this week, as well as popping in and out of classrooms, and I can confidently say that  every student who has had the opportunity to return to school this week has had a great time. It has been simply wonderful to simply sit back and watch the joy that children get from a 40 minute play with their mates during recess. We can't wait to welcome back our Grade 5/6 students tomorrow and our Grade 3/4 students next Tuesday.

Where students have been offsite for a significant amount of time, the return to school will be very much like a return from Christmas holidays, with all the excitement and anticipation that a ‘new start’ carries with it. I would encourage you to speak with your children, and remind them of how it felt on their first day of school; or how it feels when they return to school after a long holiday; and to remind them of how quickly and happily they settle back into the daily routine of school life.

We have all endured such significant restraints on our lives for such a long period of time, it’s almost hard to believe that the finish line is in sight. It is. I urge you all to look forward, to see that we are very close to the resumption of a more normal life and to share in the excitement of our children returning to school.

Have a great weekend everyone.
