Year 7

What are we responsible for…?

The most challenging experiences in life are often times when we take responsibility for, or feel the impact of, things beyond our control. It is difficult at times to separate ourselves from what is our responsibility and what is not our responsibility. There is a distinct difference between taking responsibility for others and caring for others.

In Health, the Year 7s are focusing on daily life challenges that may affect our health. The following checklist may help students in dealing with day-to-day challenges - friendship issues, social media, school concerns, and so on:

I take responsibility for :

  • My words
  • My behaviour
  • My actions
  • My efforts
  • My mistakes
  • The consequences of my actions

I am not responsible for:

  • Words used by other people
  • The way others behave
  • The actions or mistakes of others
  • The level of efforts of others
  • The beliefs or ideas of others
  • The consequences of others’ actions

Understanding responsibility is a life skill. Modelling and expecting our young people to understand and accept responsibility assists to foster independence, nurture resilience, and instill a sense of self – and we do so within a supportive and inclusive environment.

Sick Bay reminders

In the event that a student feel unwell, they are reminded to ask the teacher if they can go to sickbay. Their diary will be signed and the sickbay attendee will assess whether parents need to be contacted. We ask students not to call parents directly to pick them up.

2019 Past Pupils of Distinction

I encourage Year 7 parents to come and join the Kilbreda community celebrating Kilbreda women who are making a difference. The event is held here at the college on Friday 9 August. It will be a wonderful evening celebrating all the nominees and inductees.
