STEM

Tim Lee

After encountering frustrating delays due to engineering recalculations due to unexpected soil conditions we are finally with great excitement seeing the new STEM Building sprout out of the ground.  Only this week the second level concrete slab was poured to complete the core foundations of the building.  Staff and students cannot wait to see the building’s framing begin to take shape to outline our desired design which we have only seen to date as evolving renderings on paper.

This high-tech education facility where all junior students will gain exposure to the latest technology and real-world problems will make science, technology, engineering and mathematics exciting and relevant to their aspirations and build 21st century capabilities.

Teachers are especially excited to deliver a new 2022 junior curriculum of interdisciplinary and applied approach in direct collaboration with their colleagues.  The new centre shall provide a multitude of learning environments from vast and vibrant, to quiet and concentrated depending on what the activity requires thanks to modern design considerations and materials to suit.  The building in its design will be extremely well organised in its resources both basic and high-tech.  There is so much to look forward to in this building that we have been dreaming of for many years now.

Hopefully we will see you soon in the St John’s Regional College Junior STEM Centre mid 2022 when the facility is buzzing with life and learning.
