A reminder that students may choose between their summer and winter uniform at the commencement of Term 2, according to the weather conditions. The official date for the commencement of wearing the winter uniform to school will be Foundation Day.
All students from Year 3 to Year 12 will be required to wear Full Winter Uniform to the Foundation Day Service on Friday 10th May.
Full Winter Uniform must be worn for official occasions such as school photos. These will begin in week 2 of Term 2.
Uniform Supply update
Friday, 3rd May is the last day that Bolton’s will sell Girton Grammar uniforms. If you have pre-ordered any school uniform items, please ensure that you collect them by this date, as Bolton’s orders will not be transferred to the new supplier but will be returned to general stock.
The new Girton Uniform supplier is Bob Stewart at 108 High Street, Bendigo. We anticipate that they will commence selling Girton uniform items on Wednesday 15th May. At this stage it has not been determined if they will commence trade with a full stock of all sizes, however, we are sure that once established, the service and stock levels will continually be of a high standard.
Meanwhile, the Girton second-hand uniform shop is located in Girton House (105 MacKenzie Street).
As a service to parents, during the transition period, the second-hand uniform shop volunteers will open at the following times:
- Usual trading hours: Fridays 8.15-9.00am & 3.00-4.00pm
- ONCE OFF, ALL DAY TRADING Wednesday 8 May 8.45am–3.30pm
For those who use Facebook, there is a “pre-loved Girton uniform” Facebook group for buying and requesting second hand garments; www.facebook.com/groups/girtonpreloveduniforms/
If you have any garments at home (particularly size 95 and 100 blazers) that can be loaned for Foundation Day, we have some families who are struggling to outfit their child right now and may appreciate the loan. Please contact reception if you are in need, or if you are able to help.
If you are not able to secure winter uniform items through the above avenues by Friday 10th May, when Winter uniform must be worn, please write to Mr Thompson or Mr Maruff to request a period of grace, during which time summer or sports uniform may be worn to school.
Likewise, if you have extenuating circumstances that will make it difficult to adhere to the end of the uniform transition (sunset) period, which is the end of the 2019 school year, please email Mr Maruff at headmaster@girton.vic.edu.au.
