S.T.E.A.M week

Next week is S.T.E.A.M week at MVPS.

Mount View Primary will be celebrating National Science week during Week 6 –19th August to 23rd August.

 

“Destination Moon: more missions, more science is the national theme for Science week; marking 50 years since the Apollo 11 moon landing. 

 

The theme allows for schools to engage in discovering the concept of solving problems and investigating the unknown, in order to better understand the world we live in.

 

Families: Please feel free to join your children in the classroom between 3pm and 4pm on Tuesday 20th of August. We invite you to come and join in with the fun STEAM challenges and science inquiries which will be running around the school during this time. 

Please note: 

Year 2 classrooms will be open from 3-3:30pm.

Year 3 classrooms will be open from 3:30-4pm.

All other classrooms will be open from 3-4pm.

Year 2 Family night - 42 students from Year 2 will be bringing a family member to join them from 6:30-8:00pm on Tuesday 20th of August as they explore three S.T.E.A.M hands-on activities.

Student competition: Moon landing – for a gold coin donation students are welcome to participate in an optional ‘moon landing’ competition. Students who are ‘successful’ in their landing, go into the draw to win one of the amazing prizes: A BB8 Sphero Robot, tickets to Gold Class, tickets to Scienceworks, S

Preps and Year 1s: design a paper plane to ‘land on the moon’ target

Year 2- Year 6: ‘Egg drop’ space craft.
