Year 3 Camp - Lake Dewar

Lake Dewar

Hello Mount View Community!

I had the absolute pleasure of joining the Year 3 camp at Lake Dewar last week.

The students underwent many activities, where they had to demonstrate leadership, teamwork and resilience to complete challenges and learn important life skills.

They also had to embrace their independence and organise their luggage, keep their cabin tidy, and work out how they could all shower and keep their teeth clean in their groups! (no small feat)

It was a wonderful opportunity for me to interact with other teachers, parents (hey Michael and Justin!) and students.  Hearing their pure joy and excitement during and after the activities never gets old!

In addition, being there to witness not only the students’ personal bravery but also their kindness to uplift other was amazing.  From encouraging their peers who were afraid, to making sure they crossed finishing lines together, and even helping move the luggage bags!

It was a terrific example that we adults can all learn from, especially during those busy drop-offs and pickups at school - there is always room for compassion and kindness to a fellow human.  You never know what it might mean to that other person.

Amongst the many laughs throughout the 3 days, there is so much planning, love and care that the teachers put into ensuring that the students get the most out of their camp experience.

So especially from the Year 3 parents, a huge thank you to the Mount View (and also Lake Dewar) staff for creating such an enriching experience for our children.  It’s one that I will certainly cherish and remember for the rest of my life.

Cheers,

David
