Year 10 Minimum Standard Evaluation
Minimum Standard Evaluation
On the 12th of March, all of Year 10 attempted their HSC Minimum Standards. They completed a total of three tests: reading, writing and numeracy. The results showed that all students who sat the test passed the minimum level for reading, and over 90% of students passed numeracy. The writing results are still being marked and will be sent to students in the coming weeks. Overall, this success rate, as compared to last year, has increased dramatically.
Catch-up tests for students who have not passed all three tests will be conducted throughout the year.
A survey was conducted at the end of their three tests, to gather an understanding on how the students felt in regards to the HSC Minimum Standard tests. Students were asked about their overall experience of the HSC Minimum Standard Online tests – over 70% answered with ‘good’ or ‘very good’. They were also surveyed about if they understood what was to be expected before their actual tests, and if the practice tests were helpful – over 86% of students answered yes to both questions. Finally, students were asked if they felt supported by their teachers at their test venues – 93% of them answered yes.

Yr 11 & 12 Visual Art Excursion
On the 6th of March, the year 11 and 12 art classes went to the Art Express exhibition at the gallery of NSW. There we were able to see the highest ranking HSC major works from 2019. By being able to see real examples of these final works, we were able to understand and reflect on our own Bodies of Work which the year 12's are currently creating. It also provided great inspiration to the Year 11's who will begin to conceptualise their Bodies of Work at the end of this year. The works we saw were of a great quality and provided an enjoyable and influential experience. As well as the HSC major work exhibition, we were allowed to see other free exhibitions throughout the gallery. This provided a chance for us to see great quality Australian and other cultural art, influencing our conceptual understanding of Art. Overall the excursion was very a beneficial experience to all of us who attended and was highly enjoyed by the students.
