CATHOLIC VALUES AND PRINCIPLES – The Common Good
In our school the students are learning to articulate the principle of ‘The Common Good.’ Put simply, the common good is reached when we work together to improve the wellbeing of people in our society and the wider world. Catholics believe that the rights of the individual to personal possessions and community resources must be balanced with the needs of the disadvantaged and dispossessed.
During this time of Lent, this principle is particularly pertinent. Our school’s Project Compassion donations help enable Caritas Australia give priority to development programs which involve collaboration with all relevant sectors of the community to promote the common good.
As Jules Jenkins told me this morning, “You don’t help poor people to be a big deal, so that everybody notices you. You do it because it’s the right thing to do.”
ST PATRICK'S DAY - GREEN DAY
We will be celebrating St Patrick's Day on Friday the 15th March!
Our annual ‘Green Day’ will be held on Friday 15th. This will be a day where children wear ‘green mufti clothes’ and bring along a gold coin donation to put towards our fundraising efforts for CARITAS Australia.
We would also like to have a GREEN MORNING TEA - could all children please bring in something green to share for morning tea !
