Compass Parent Portal

The new Compass Parent Portal is now live.

By now, you should have received your individual letters in the post which contain instructions and your unique login details. Please contact the office if you have not received this.

Different modules will be rolled out over time, giving you more access and details. In the meantime please take the time to register and download the App.

Once you have registered using the instructions in your letter, download the App:

1. Search for “Compass School Manager” in ITunes (Apps Store)  for iPhone)  or  Android App Store - (Google Play)

2. Search for GUNNEDAH.

3. You will be asked to put in your individual login details.

4. You will then be taken to the homepage of our school's Parent Portal.

Pink Up St Xavier's

What a fantastic day we had last week for Pink Up St Xavier's. It was great to see everybody support such a wonderful cause. As a school community we raised $1167.00.

Colleen Fuller (representative from Pink up Gunnedah)will be at assembly on Monday to be presented with the funds.

North West and New England Districts Primary School Chess Tournament

Yesterday, St Xavier's sent 5 Chess teams to the Gunnedah Public School to compete at the Primary Chess Tournament.

All teams did extremely well, with all being named in the top seven on the day.

The A team consisting of Lucas Sardinha, Toby Harris and Adam Browne came 2nd overall. Congratulations.

A big thank you once again to Mr Heap for all your coaching and mentoring and to Heidi Browne  for attending with the students.

Brain Olympia

On Tuesday 29th October, 16 children traveled to Narrabri to compete in the Brain Olympia Cluster competition. The children competed in two teams - "The Brainy Bunch" and "Let's Get Quizzical". They completed general knowledge (trivia) type questions, maths problems, public speaking and drama. Both teams did an outstanding job with "The Brainy Bunch" finishing in first place at the end of the day and "Let's Get Quizzical" finishing in second place. St Xavier's literally scooped the pool! The top two teams from the cluster competition qualify for the Grand Final so both our teams will now travel back to Narrabri on the 12th November to test their skills against the best teams from across the Diocese. All the children who attended on the day were absolutely wonderful representatives of St Xavier's and should be congratulated on their performance and their overall conduct - well done everyone!

Year 3

Year 3 have spent the first 2 weeks of term learning about Chance in Maths. They have conducted a variety of fun investigations (their favourite was the M &M colour investigation).

We constructed our own spinners and collected data after making predictions. Great time spent having fun whilst learning.

Didgeridoo Group

At the end of last term Year 6 were fortunate to have Mark Atkins come and play the Didgeridoo for them. This term Mark will be visiting each week to teach interested boys in Year 6 how to play the Didgeridoo. Here are some photos taken of the demonstration and from Groups 1’s first lesson.

Current cuts that show fading, mohawks and long fringes etc are very cool but please save them for the holidays.
