Junior Interschool Sport Day: Friday 26 March

On Friday 26 March 2021, SOC entered a recorded 6 teams into the Monash Division Volleyball Competition.

The year 7/8 students felt ready after competing in a volleyball tournament within their respective year levels throughout Term 1.  The day showcased the many skills students had been learning in their sport class and it was pleasing to see the school values of Respect, Resilience and Teamwork on constant display throughout the day.

All teams had some wins and losses with our Year 8 Girls A team finishing second on the ladder and the Year 8 boys A team finishing a close third after just missing out on a tie-breaker set in the semi-final.  All year 7 teams finished third on the ladder.

All students had a great day and are already planning to enter future interschool sport teams based on their positive interschool sport experience.  A special mention must be made to SOC’s Sport Prefects – Andre De Vries (Year 11) and Emily Vincent (Year 12) who, with their assistance with coaching and convening, were integral to the smooth running of the day.

Year 7 Girls' Tennis

Congratulations to the Year 7 Girls tennis team who came runners up in the Interschool competition. The team lost by 2 games to Brentwood in the final but displayed some amazing skills throughout the day. Teamwork was especially evident in our doubles team of Miu Morita and Annika Tarjan who played some outstanding points in all of their doubles matches.

Well done to all.
