Dickens Room

The children have been very busy, prepping for Mothers' Day, learning some songs and making something special to share. They are really excited about this process and we can't wait to share this with you next week. Please see the invites on Seesaw for more information.

The Marram class has been exploring the fact that the leaves are changing , we have been unpacking shapes, patterns and using these to create recognizable images- drawing and painting. This has been an interesting process and one that has been incredible to witness.

We have been out into the school to see the changes that are happening for the playground construction, and have made the most of the warmth and sunshine with our school sports and a practice race last week also.

Box construction is still a huge interest also, the children are demonstrating a lot of focus and concentration, cutting, gluing, sticking and planning out the steps needed to create their intended designs.

Our Wimbi children have enjoyed singing and dancing! This has carried over into moments of joy outside- dancing away to music and requesting lots of songs as we engaged in the wonderful sunshine.

They loved the sports race and did incredibly well for not having left the kinder as a class previously. They were so excited to run, demonstrated amazing patience and overflowed with excitement through the process. it was wonderful to see so many family members come and watch us, thank you all!

They are still enjoying stories also, it is a wonderful way to extend language development, focus and concentration and curiosity. There's also such special moments where children connect with their peers and teachers, developing trust, relationship and belonging.

We are looking forward to a great week ahead!

What a busy week we had. We had glorious weather for both sports days and the children thoroughly enjoyed a good running race. It bought a great deal of joy for the children to have some parent’s / caregivers cheering them on – thank you to those who were able to attend.

In the Chinese language program the children are learning fruit names in Mandarin. Last week we learnt ‘banana’ and it was a fantastic opportunity to bake some banana muffins. This also affords the children to be able to; follow directions, turn take, engage in mathematical concepts, make predictions and delayed gratification.

The children have been engaging in discoveries of dinosaurs and the moon, through small world play experiences, as well as through puzzles, songs and dance. The have also been demonstrating some great collaborative and imaginative play with the large big blocks outdoors. We have seen pirates, high speed trains and a restaurant, which has opened up some great conversations around nutrition – good and sometimes foods. We have also enjoyed some lovely quiet book reading and mindfulness moments.

Have a wonderful week!
