Principal's Message

Term 2 Week 3

Aussie of the Month

It was my pleasure, with Mr O'Hern to present the Aussie of the Month award to Michael in 5/6 W. Our Aussie of the Month award is awarded to students who consistently show the school values it is sponsored by the  Honourable Mr Bruce Atkinson's office who is a member of the Victorian Parliament for the Eastern Metropolitan region. The award is shared across Learning Centres across the year and teachers meet to agree on worthy recipients. I thank Miss Honan for organising the award.

Michael is a friendly and supportive student, who always strives to uphold the school values. He demonstrates responsibility by reflecting on his learning, seeking assistance and asking clarifying questions in the classroom. Michael embraces a range of learning opportunities, including the mistakes he makes to help him move forward in this learning. He demonstrates a love of learning when engaging in new and interesting topics and uses his character strength of perseverance to build his knowledge and skills in a range of learning tasks.

Michael is polite, kind and always strives to do the very best that he can. He takes pride in his own success and enjoys celebrating the success of his friends and peers in the Leadership Centre. Michael always looks out for his peers who may need assistance and genuinely offers support to others by providing useful wellbeing tips and strategies. He is admired by his classmates for his caring and compassionate nature, making him a valued member of the student Let’s Talk Buddy team.

Michael is very knowledgeable in a range of subjects, including history and aviation and is always willing to share his insightful ideas during class discussions. He is an important member of the Student Wellbeing Leadership Team, taking pride in what he has already achieved in this role. Michael consistently approaches each day with a big smile and displays a positive attitude towards all aspects of school, especially during special events including the Senior School production, where he has delighted in receiving a lead role this year. Mount Pleasant Road Primary is lucky to have Michael as a member of our school community and we congratulate him for receiving the Aussie of the Month Award.

Sports Day

We did it! Finally our Twilight Sports/Sports Fun Day went ahead for 2021. The sun cam out and students, parents and staff enjoyed an amazing day of competition and partisipation. Thank you to the many parents who attended to cheer on their children. Huge congratulations to Mrs Butterworth, Mrs Embery and the Year 6 leaders for organising the day.

Cross Country

It has a been a busy couple of weeks in PE. We successfully held our Cross Country even with impending rain. We got through our Foundation to Year 2 events on the oval and the Seniors completed their circuit of the local streets in preparation for District Cross Country. Another congratulations to Mrs Butterworth for organisng this event. It is really valuable for our students to be able to have warm up events before representing the school.

Thank you to all our parent helpers that stood out on the course, cheering and directing.

Parent Phonogram Course

Thank you to all our parents and carers who attended the first session of three for our parents  course. Remember that if you register we plan for your attendance with resources and staff attendance. We had 80 participants registered with 34 attending on the night. Which is shows a great deal of interest but also means that we only needed to set up for a smaller attendance. I know parents that attended found the course valuable and I would encourage everyone to let the office know if you are unable to make one of the sessions.

Our Cake Raffle is Back

The cake raffle is a highlight for many of our students and families. It is a sign of our amazing community that we have families willing to prepare a couple of treats and then students can purchase tickets. Great number recognition for our Foundation students. There is a roster that families can put their name down on for our Wednesday Junior and Friday Senior Assemblies.
