Principal’s Message

Mr Nick Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back for Term 2! I hope all our families had the chance for some quiet time with loved ones over the Easter break. It was wonderful to hear about the fantastic celebrations in the last week of term with a great roll-up of families for the Easter Hat Parade and picnic. The disco was also a big hit! Thank you to all those able to join us to celebrate the end of term!

It was also a big week for our PP5 Relay who took out the silver medal at the PSSA Swimming Championships. I was extremely proud of our team, not just for the wonderful result, but also for their sportsmanship and commitment to each other to train and prepare for the race. They also slashed another five seconds off their qualifying time from a week earlier. A brilliant achievement!

This term promises to be another busy one for us here at Sacred Heart. A hard copy of the term calendar will be sent home to families this week with some of our planned events. Some important events to note include;

  • School Cross Country on Monday 26 April
  • NAPLAN assessments for Year 3 and Year 5 students in Week 4 and Week 5
  • Mother's Day Breakfast on Thursday 6 May
  • Diocesan Cross Country on Friday 7 May
  • Book Fair in Week 4
  • Catholic Schools Week in Week 6
  • Family Mass and First Communion on Saturday 5 June

This Sunday is ANZAC Day and all students are invited to join us for the Boggabri ANZAC Day March. Students need to assemble at the Post Office at 8.15am, ready to commence the march at 8.30am. Students are asked to dress in full summer uniform (please bring your school hat).

As the weather begins to cool, we are transitioning our school uniform from summer to winter uniform. Over the next two weeks, parents may choose to dress their children in either summer or winter uniform. However, from Monday 3 May, all students need to come to school dressed in full winter uniform. If your child cannot be dressed in uniform for any reason, please provide a note explaining why.

A special mention to Kayla Kleinschafer who celebrates her 6th birthday today and Ms Robyn Traynor who celebrates her birthday (21 again!) on Thursday 22nd April. We hope they both enjoy their special day.

Have a great week!

Nick Baird
