Term 1 Learning in 6C

During Term 1, all of the Grade 6 classes have been reading ‘Wonder’ by R.J. Palacio. Students have enjoyed participating in reading activities based on the class novel, such as making connections to the text, summarising and making predictions. They have also undertaken various literature circle roles in preparation for our book club groups next term.

Last week, students in 6C created a character profile of Auggie, the main character in ‘Wonder’. They drew their interpretation of him and then listed his emotional, physical and social traits. Their insights showed that they had learnt a great deal about the different aspects of this character.

This week we will finish reading the novel and students will complete a book review before watching the movie. They will then be able to compare the two text types.
