Sustainability at BPS

The Story So Far...

This year we restarted the compost program at BPS which we hadn’t done in a year because of the annoying COVID 19. This year we can finally get the ball rolling again.

So from now on, when the compost bins are full, the compost monitors in the class will take it to The Patch where there is a large compost bin. There they empty the containers and clean it before returning it to the classroom.

We have also been making sure to educate everyone on what to put in the compost bins and what not to, which is very important as the worms prefer not having acidic fruits in the compost.

A reminder for parents: is nude food being brought to school? Rather than having plastic wrappers it would be a good step forward into making BPS eco friendly!

In term 1 the entire school got together to celebrate ‘Clean Up Australia Day.’.

Each class has an area to keep clean; for example the year 2’s have the oval to keep clean. The reason we did this is because we thought that the school was looking a bit untidy. We also did this because this day suited us better than Clean up Australia Day because it was on a weekend.

We would like to remind parents to try and limit the amount of rubbish being brought into the school.
