Diocesan Tennis

The Diocesan Tennis Championships were held at Gunnedah Tennis courts on Thursday 22 April. Four players represented McCarthy in the boys' and girls' singles and doubles team challenge. The participants included Connor Guest and Matthew Keen for the boys and Claudia Kenniff and Mia Cutherbertson for the girls. There was some outstanding tennis played on the day. The girls were very competitive and played some great points in their matches. The boys played very well making it through to the final against St Mary’s Gunnedah. Connor Guest had two good wins in the singles matches and along with Matthew Keen the match came down to the last set of doubles. In an exciting match producing great rallies, the contest went into a tie breaker. The boys played controlled tennis to win the tie-breaker and the match. This means that the boys will play against the winners of the Bathurst Diocese in Bathurst on May 31. Congratulations boys.
