Leader of Student Wellbeing
Winter Uniform
Lowes has contacted the College and has identified that long sleeve shirts are in short supply. If any family requires financial assistance to access the winter uniform (full uniform or sport uniform) please contact meat the College. The expectation is that students will be full winter uniform at the beginning of Week 3.
Year 7 Peer Support
Students have met with their Year 10 Peer Support Mentors for 4 sessions and this marks the halfway point of the 8 week program. Each session is conducted during the weekly "Be Better" lessons. Students have commented how supportive their leaders have been in navigating some of the complexities of high school life and developing skills when it comes to facing tricky situations. The focus of this week’s session is wellbeing. Students discuss the need to enhance their wellbeing so they are mentally and emotionally fit to face obstacles and setbacks they encounter. They consider the positive effects of elements such as eating well, getting sufficient sleep and regular exercise.
Year 7 - 10 Real Talk Pastoral Care days
Students were involved in sessions for one day last week. Three presenters engaged with the students on the topics of sex, relationships and personal identity. Based on Catholic values, Real Talk provides up-to-date resources, presentations and programs that help young people to understand God’s amazing plan for love and life.
For our parents and students of Year 7-9 - Social Media Concern YOLO App
In this digital age, often social media incidents which occur at home spill over to the school environment affecting a young person’s wellbeing. Presently, the pastoral care team have become aware of the use of an app which can be used as a way of bullying young people online.
YOLO stands for “you only live once” and is an app that allows kids to ask and answer questions anonymously. The app is embedded within Snapchat. Using this app users can comment and post answers anonymously.
Users can also create questions to get answers from other users. YOLO lets users add an 'ask me anything' sticker to their Snapchat story, then privately review the questions, decide which to answer and who to share the content with. Responses are posted on Snapchat through a sticker which can be customised. Users can also reply to comments as well as share comments. Unfortunately, some users make derogatory or mean comments or post questions that may hurt others. We ask that you please monitor your child’s use of social media. For further information including strategies for managing phone and internet use please visit the eSafety information presented by SchoolTV:
School TV
Please note the recommended age for the use of YOLO is now at age 17+ (it was 12 years). This is because of the reported ongoing bullying issues.
