Selamat siang dan selamat datang kembali!

It's so wonderful to be back after a restful holiday. I hope you were all able to have a relaxing time because this term is a busy one!

Our final week of Indonesian last term took the students on a cultural exploration of Indonesia! Foundation students learnt a game played by Indonesian kids, called "Semut, orang, gajah" which they discovered was similar to rock, paper and scissors. 1/2 students used their knowledge of Indonesian food to role-play what it's like to buy and sell in an Indoneisan marketplace and tried their hand at bargaining for the first time. In 3/4, students were able to create a sculpture or drawing based off Indonesian culture (maps, animals, flowers, foods and famous buildings were just some of the creations). 5/6 students put their cooking skills to the test as they made a vegan nasi goreng!

This term is going to be just as exciting, as the topics chosen have all been based on student voice surveys! In the senior school, 5/6 students will be improving their bargaining vocabulary, using the large numbers represented in Rupiah (thousands, millions, etc), while 3/4 students learn to describe houses and learn about the traditional houses of Indonesia. 1/2 students will be learning to describe different types of transport and in Foundation they will be answering and singing the answer to "Apa kabar?" or "How are you?"
