Principal's Message

Term 2 Week 1

Welcome Back Everyone!

I hope that everyone was able to take some time out and enjoy quality family time across the Easter break. After our unfortunate end due to Gastro like symptoms across the school on our last day things definitely did not go to plan. I thank parents, students and staff for coping so well and their support in finishing the term as best we could. We were so lucky it was for the last day.

We even had our Easter Hat Parade in classrooms and streamed our assembly so we could still have the awards. Huge thanks to Megan Campbell and Year 6 Leaders for all their help.

Parents are welcome back onsite and to make sure we continue with our COVID safe plans if parents are onsite for more than 15 minutes please check in with the QR code displayed around the school. If you are helping out in the school for example with PMP then signing in through the Sentral Visitors screen is all that is needed.

Important Dates

Please check the Term 2 Dates at the front of the newsletter as we welcome parents and carers to events. There is still the consideration of

  1. Signing in/checking in.
  2. Social distancing particularly - in the Hall for assemblies, we will often have the doors open to accommodate this.
  3. Maintaining good hand hygiene.
  4. If unwell stay home.

Parent Morning Teas

Huge thanks to Flip and the P&F for organising our parent morning teas. This week Year 5/6 parents are welcome to stay after assembly and catch up with each other.

New Junior Playground

Work has started and will continue for the term on our two new Junior School playgrounds. It will limit some of the play areas but the opportunity to have two brand new playgrounds will be worth it, I'm sure.

School Tours

We are accepting enrolments for 2022 and School Tours will be conducted on alternate Wednesdays and Mondays. The tours can be booked through the school website. The tours are a great opportunity for prospective Kinder and School families to see our wonderful school in action.

Parent Phonogram Program

As advertised last term, our popular Parent Phonogram program will be running from next Thursday evening for three weeks. I ma grateful to Emma McCoy and Andrew Shaw for running this program for parents. I encourage anyone who hasn't attended to come along. We often have repeat attendees!

Sports Carnival

Mrs Treesje Butterworth and Mrs Emily Embery have been busy putting the final touches on our Sports Carnival. Parents are welcome to come and cheer their children on on the oval.

Education Week

We were notified recently that Education Week will be week 6 and not week 5. So we have moved our Grandparents Day and Open Night to Thursday 27th May. Look out for more information coming soon. This year we will hold our Art Show in this week and the show will be viewable on Open Night too.

High School Transition 2022

This week, via Sentral, all parents and carers of current students in Year 6 will receive a digital copy of the High School Transition Information Pack 2021-22. This pack provides extensive information outlining the transition process for all children currently attending government Primary Schools. It is important that parents read the High School Transition Information Pack, so that they can make an informed decision about secondary schooling for their child/children in 2022.

High Schools are currently running a range of school tours and information nights, which provide parents, carers and students with more specific information about how a school operates.

If you have any questions about the High School Transition process please contact Matt O’Hern (Acting Assistant Principal).

Parent Manged Head Lice Program

'Tis the season! We would like to implement our Parent Managed Head Lice program again. We are calling out for volunteers and a couple of parents to coordinate the program. If anyone has some time (twice a term) and would like more information please contact Sue in the office. This program has been instrumental in containing head lice in the school and is appreciated by parents and staff alike.

Lunchtime Clubs

This week sees the commencement of lunchtime clubs for Term 2, please see the timetable in Important Information. The clubs provide valuable opportunities for students to take a break from playing outside, connect with their peers with similar interests and make new friends along the way!
