A MESSAGE FROM OUR ACTING PRINCIPAL

It has been a good start to the year for everyoneat Dandenong Valley SDS. Our students have been busy in their classrooms and there is lots of learning happening. Thank you to everyone for their support during the short lockdown we had in February. The school was only given short notice to prepare and provide classwork for the students to complete at home for the three days the school was closed. I would like to thank the staff for their support of our families during this time.

School Captains and Leaders

Congratulations to our School Captains Jade and Nathan, and our other school leaders who were presented with their badges at assembly on Friday 12th March. We are very proud of these students and we look forward to their participation in activities across the year in their new roles. Thank you also to those parents who were able to be at assembly to watch their children receive their awards.

School Council

I am pleased to announce the results of the school council nominations for 2021. As you know we had three parent vacancies and these have been filled by Tim Pulling (re-nominated), and Judy O’Connor and Victoria Song who are new members of council. At this time I wish to acknowledge and thank our four out- going school council members; Cecilia Libor Lictaoa who has been on school council since 2008 serving many years as president, Kevin de Wit who has been on school council since 2011, Lynne Wood who has been on school council since 2013 and Deb Ditchburn who has served on council for two years. All have been valued members of our school council and their input and good humour will be missed. I cannot thank them enough for all their hard work and support.

Parent Information Night

Thank you to all the parents who came to our information night on Wednesday 10th March. It was good to meet our parents face-to-face after so many online meetings of 2020. I hope that the night was informative and I encourage you to keep in contact with your child’s classroom staff if you have any other questions about your child’s learning. You can also contact Kim, Michael or myself should you have any other queries about the school.

Student Illness

This is a reminder to please keep children home if they are sick. I recognise that sometimes in the morning when things are busy you might not always realise that your child is a little bit unwell, sometimes it only becomes obvious later in the morning. The school will always call you to come and pick up your child if they are sick to try and prevent the spread of illness across the school.

Please don’t forget that if your child has had diarrhoea they need to be kept home until the stools are firm and then they are not allowed to swim for 2 weeks.

Thanks,

Rhonda
