Learning in Focus - Art & Engagement

Mrs Tania Robinson

As always it has been a busy start to the year for our Arts & Engagement Team but it is exciting to see the return of some of the events and activities that we missed out on in 2020.

Instrumental Lessons have recommenced and I welcome back to St John’s our music tutors Perri Espinoza (voice), Montel Thomas (Guitar, Drums) and Monica Nguyen (Piano). More information and bookings for lessons can be found online via the following link https://www.trybooking.com/BNABI

Our music department has started up a choir and percussion ensemble with students coming together to drum and sing as a means of creative expressions and fun. We look forward to seeing some performances from these groups in the near future and if any other students are interested in joining please see Mr Perryman.

Next week we are holding Talent Quest Auditions. Whilst last year’s virtual show was a huge success it will be great to return to the stage. We wish everyone auditioning good luck and we can’t wait to showcase our talented students to a live audience once again. The finals of TQ2021 will be held on the evening of Thursday 13th May. Details regarding bookings will be provided early next term.

In our visual arts classrooms students have been busy creating a multitude of works from photography, product designs, logos, paintings and collage. It is always inspiring to watch students undertake the design process and explore materials and techniques in new ways.
