Year 12 Retreat

The Year 12s enjoyed time away from their usual routines last week to relax, reflect and have fun too! The retreat program focussed on assisting students to think about important issues for their ongoing growth to adulthood: self-knowledge, making discerning priorities, forgiving yourself and others, connecting authentically with peers, and considering how faith and God might help them in life’s hurdles.  It was wonderful to see how the Year 12s of 2021 brought sincerity and maturity to the event.  There was also lots of laughter and joy, especially around the talent quest and adventure activities, but also just ‘breaking bread’ together at dinner times.

Social Justice Committee

A student-led social justice committee has started meeting fortnightly this year.  We discuss how to assist with such things as charity fundraising, raising awareness of justice issues, developing ties with The Society of St Vincent de Paul (Vinnies) and looking to participate in outreach events.

Our committee currently consists of six passionate volunteers: (from left to right) Cecilia Lay, Jessica Edwards, Chrisni Fernando, Tiana Amoretti, Kent Mijares and Sukirtha Vjayakumar (not pictured).  Students interested in joining the committee are most welcome – they can approach me or any of the current members to inquire.
