Dunhelen

                                                                  Mrs Francis Scuderi

How wonderful to have completed a full term at school with the students. Dunhelen has been very busy, and it is always a pleasure to be surrounded by these young adults.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Thank you to parents who attended Parent Teacher Interviews; I do hope that they were informative for you and your child. A reminder that if you have any concerns, feel free to contact your child’s Homeroom teacher and request an appointment.

Year 9 Service Learning Projects

The Year 9 students have been very busy with their Service learning projects. There is a huge list of communities that they are aiming to assist. One group has connected with the Royal Melbourne Zoo and below is an excerpt of a response they received.

In the meantime, I would love to know more about how you all became interested in this amazing, but sometimes very unknown, species? (Baw Baw frogs) Did you do a trip to the zoo or was it part of an earlier school project that started all of your interests? I’m just asking because we are always curious to know which programs and pieces of information that we put out there impact young people and empower them to take action.

I am not sure if it  would also be helpful for your event but we have just started a new Act and Share page. This page leads to a space where schools can upload short clips about their learning and work for wildlife. Twice a year, we go through all the clips and get zoo staff to comment on the clips to give feedback and celebrate your wins. It would be amazing to have a clip about your fundraiser added to the new Year 9 space.

After your fundraiser, we would like to organise to thank you for your amazing work and send you all some digital certificates from the Zoo.

It is truly wonderful to see our students make these types of  connections with communities beyond their own. Well done to all of the Year 9 students for their hard work.
Thank you for all of your amazing work so far.

It is truly wonderful to see our students make these types of connections with communities outside their own. Well done to all the Year 9 students for all their hard work this term.

Year 8 Easter Chocolates

In the spirit of Easter, the Year 8 students have been having fun with the “Benevolent Bunny”. Students were asked to bring in some Easter chocolates for which they received a raffle ticket. Ms Armstrong then made up 6 prizes with all the chocolates and this was raffled off at a Year 8 assembly last week. Some very lucky students will be eating chocolate for a while.

Year 8 Medieval Day

Medieval Day for Year 8 students was a huge success. While students were unable to handle the instruments or some of the costumes, they were very engaged in the presentations. Students participated in activities that consolidated their learning in Humanities this term.

Year 8 Drama

Our Year 8 drama students also got an opportunity to perform for some of their peers and younger students. The Year 8 students have been learning about the art and talent of clowns. The younger students were absolutely thrilled with the show.

Dunhelen Swimming Carnival

As always, the Dunhelen House Swimming carnival was a fun day. Students were able to get in the pool, cheer on their Houses and mingle with friends. Winners will be announced next term.
