Landcare ~ Grade 1/2 BV

Last Thursday, the Macedon weather lords thankfully bestowed upon us the most spectacular Autumn weather. Enough sunshine to make the Autumn leave glisten and a little dew lingering in the glass and up on picturesque Mount Macedon, serving as our backdrop to Middle Gully and our school grounds.  Hints of cold foggy dew in-between the sunshine was gentle reminder that the ‘big cold’ is just around the corner.  A perfect day for our Landcare session.

A huge thank you our volunteers Deb, John, Kirsty, Felicity and Mr O for all their hard work arranging the highly engaging activities for the afternoon.  Children collected supple Autumn leaves to create their very own lantern. An exciting and spectacular display of lanterns is planned for our up and coming Winter Solstice evening on Friday the 16th of June between 6.00 ~ 8.00pm.  It’s an event not to be missed! Students are excited to show off their creations.  Other activities included worm farming, planting of seedlings and caring for our family of hens.

It was delightful seeing students thoroughly excited and engaged in the program.  There was a true vibe of gratitude by all to have this wonderful program running in our school.  One would not be able to happen without the generous commitment of volunteers and Mr O who goes above and beyond to ensure everything ticks over seamlessly.   Most importantly his program provides are students with rich learning opportunities to care and nurture our incredible environment.

Students are looking forward to their next Middle Gully session next term and so am I.

Kind Regards ~
