Principal's Address

Dear Chevalier College Community, 

Since joining this remarkable community as Principal in January of this year, I have been fortunate to witness firsthand the exceptional spirit that embodies the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC). At Chevalier College, we strive to foster a warm and inclusive environment, guided by the core values of kindness, compassion, forgiveness, humility and hospitality, along with a strong sense of humour. 

Kindness and understanding lie at the heart of our community, as we encourage students, parents, and staff to treat one another with empathy and respect. It is through acts of kindness, big and small, that we create a supportive and uplifting atmosphere for everyone. I have been deeply moved by the genuine care and consideration that our staff demonstrate towards our students, exemplifying the true essence of our Mission. 

Compassion is another integral value that permeates our college. We encourage our community to show compassion not only towards each other but also towards those beyond the 100-acre boundary. Through community service projects such as Friday visits to Harbison, our students develop a strong sense of social responsibility and are inspired to make a positive difference in the lives of others. We will continue to look for other opportunities where we can alleviate the suffering of others and contribute to a more compassionate society. 

Forgiveness and humility are virtues that we hold dear at Chevalier College. We recognize that we are all fallible and make mistakes, but it is through forgiveness and humility that we learn, grow and heal as a community. By embracing these values, we create an environment where grace, understanding and reconciliation flourish. 

A sense of humour, often underestimated, is essential in maintaining a positive and cheery atmosphere within the Chevalier community. It allows us to find the lighter side in challenging situations and fosters a spirit of empathy and resilience. 

Lastly, and like all MSC communities, hospitality is an ongoing aspiration for Chevalier. We strive to create an environment where all feel welcome, valued and appreciated. The warm and inclusive atmosphere at Chevalier College is a testament to the genuine hospitality extended by our students, parents and staff, fostering a sense of belonging and unity. 

In conclusion, as the new Principal of Chevalier College, I am immensely proud of the way our community embraces the values of the MSC. Through kindness, compassion, forgiveness, humility, a sense of humour and hospitality, we create an environment where each individual can thrive spiritually, academically, socially and emotionally. 

Thank you for your unwavering commitment to upholding these values and for being an integral part of our vibrant community. Together, let us continue to live out the ethos of the MSC and nurture a spirit of compassion, understanding and humility in all that we do.
