Britton Shield Touch Football

Last week, our passionate Touch players made a remarkable impact as they took the fields by storm in the Britton Shield Carnival. This exciting event brought together primary students from Clayfield College, Ipswich Junior Grammar School, and Moreton Bay Boys’ College for a thrilling competition.

The Carnival provided an excellent platform for these young players to showcase their skills and engage in friendly rivalry. We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the players, coaches, referees, staff, parents, and caregivers who contributed to the success of the event. Their support and dedication made it yet another outstanding day for Primary Boys Sport.

Let's celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship and the achievements of our talented Touch players. We look forward to witnessing their continued growth and success in future sporting endeavors.

Highlights from the last week

Australian Gymnastics Championships

Lindsay Webb has concluded her impressive performance at the 2023 Australian Gymnastics Championships, Level 9, 15 Years and under category. Lindsay completed her Nationals campaign finishing 7th overall in the country, with an outstanding 3rd place, bronze medal in the vault and 4th position in uneven bars.

Lindsay showcased her unwavering commitment and focus over the two-day competition, facing off against the most talented gymnasts in Australia. Her exceptional consistency and dedication are justly commendable, making her a true superstar in the world of gymnastics.

2023 AFL NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT CHAMPIONSHIPS

U16 GIRLS ALL-AUSTRALIAN TEAM

The line-up for the 2023 AFLW Under 16s 'All Australian' team has been announced, and Mia Geere, a Year 10 student, has been named in the line-up. Among the Brisbane Lions Academy representatives, Mia stands as the sole representative. Mia’s athleticism makes her a difficult match-up for the opposition, and enforces her impact on the game. Mia plays half back flank and is a defender whose strong intercept marking, rebound speed and long kicking were features of her dominant performances in both selection matches. A bottom-aged player, she averaged 22 disposals (at 68% efficiency), 7.5 marks and 5.5 rebound 50s.

We eagerly anticipate witnessing Mia's ongoing development and significant contributions to the game and competition in the coming years.

The Clayfield College community extends its heartfelt congratulations to Mia on her selection and leading with distinction.
