Captains' Corner

From our College Captains, Abi and Kate

We are very much looking forward to the formation of the Secondary School Student Representative Council. There has been an overwhelming response from students who have nominated themselves to sit on the SRC and represent their cohort. The next step in the process is for the Secondary Leadership Team to shortlist the nominations according to the selection criteria, and then voting will occur in each year level in the coming weeks.

The SRC will be a valuable platform for students to work together and strengthen College spirit. As chairs of the SRC, we are excited to hear from the younger students and what ideas they bring to the table. We are sure that this will improve our leadership as College Captains as it will give us insight into what students really want.

We are looking forward to collaborating with other year levels and hearing their perspectives on student experience so that we can put strategies and projects in place to improve it. We believe the SRC will benefit the College by providing fresh and authentic perspectives, because as leaders we are sometimes focused on our own needs and experiences, but need to listen to how we can better lead the school through feedback.

The SRC will include 2 delegates from each year level (7 to 12) and a First Nations student representative. As College Captains, we will chair the SRC meetings which will be held during flexitime every fortnight. A Year 11 student will be the Secretary, and Mr Desmarchelier will sit in as an advisory member.

We are very excited about the opportunities for learning new skills in collaborative leadership and developing a positive culture at our wonderful College.
