National Simultaneous Storytime

National Simultaneous Storytime is a highly anticipated annual event that takes place throughout Australia, designed to foster a deep appreciation for literature among participants. This exciting initiative showcases the talents of Australian authors and illustrators, making it a true celebration of local literary creativity.

The event's remarkable reach was demonstrated in 2022, as an astounding 2.18 million individuals united in reading the same story at exactly the same time, spanning an impressive 59,000 locations. This year, our enthusiastic primary school students eagerly took part in National Simultaneous Storytime on the 24th of May. With an incredible 2 million fellow registered students, we collectively delved into 'Speedy Sloth.

Following the shared reading experience, our students actively engaged in a range of engaging activities, specifically designed to enhance their understanding and

comprehension of the text. In the lead-up to the event, our prep classrooms devoted time to a text study, delving deep into the characters of 'Speedy Sloth’ and their appearances, traits and feelings.

The students were fortunate to welcome a special guest, Mr. Tassoni, who shared the story with us. What an exciting opportunity for the preps!
