From the Classroom

In Science this term we have been learning about chemical science, we have been focusing on the 'states of matter'.  The three main states are called solid, liquid and gas.  Chemistry is the study of matter, analysing structure, properties and behaviour, to see what happens when they change in chemical reactions.

We have been completing a lot of different experiments, such as making lava lamps, heating up marshmallows, making slime and much more.

We have visited Melbourne University and they have visited us at school. The most exciting part was when our class made ice cream and when they showed us the liquid nitrogen at the start and everybody gasped.

We have discussed what makes liquids, solids and gasses and how they can turn into different states with just a change of temperature.

We have been learning about the particle theory and how particles change depending on their state.

We learnt about mixtures, solutions and emulsions to help us understand the particle theory more.

Special thanks to Lisa, Mick, Bridie, Connor and Steph and to Rick and Liz Tudor!
