PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Mr David Whewell | Principal

Music at Plenty Parklands

Just to update parents and guardians on happenings in our Music Program with Mr Stubberfield, our Choir continues to work on new songs after successful performances at the end of term assembly and on Fun Night.

The junior school band is ready for its next gig, which is scheduled for our end of term assembly, whilst I attended a jam session last night with the senior school band who are preparing for a lunchtime session for students in the coming weeks.

Upcoming student free days

On our last curriculum day on May 22nd, we had some confusion with 10 students arriving before 9am expecting to be in class for the day. Please note that all events will always be listed here in the Principal’s Message to allow you plenty of notice to organise your family.

Of course, we have the King’s Birthday public holiday coming up on Monday 12th June. The next student free day after that is scheduled for Friday 4th August.

Parent Helpers

Our special food day was a success on Wednesday with over 650 slices of pizza consumed by hungry students.

The funds raised are going toward our new student play area which includes a hill slide.

The task of distributing the food was made easier thanks to the assistance of an energetic group of eight parents who worked with Mrs Zurzolo to make the day run smoothly.

Chance to share your thoughts with our school leaders

We plan to hold our next coffee and chat session on Thursday 22nd June at 9am in the school staffroom.

If you are interested in hearing an update on our new build, additional programs we have planned and incoming staff then please book your spot with the office staff.

Our Leading teachers Kerrie, Kristy and Megan will also be running a short activity asking for feedback on the school’s performance this year and ideas for future improvements.

Welcome aboard

It is with great anticipation that we welcome four new staff to the team as we continue to maximise supports for your children.

Congratulations to graduate teachers Jessica Camilleri and Sarah Emery who join our staff.

Both are familiar with Plenty Parklands having recently completed a university placement here.

We have also added two Education Support Staff. Bethany and Holly start with us next week and will each work in classrooms around the school.

Thank you to parents who..

Drive carefully around the school.

Find some time at home to assist their child with their learning.

Keep an open mind and follow processes when their child shares information about an issue at school.

Feel comfortable approaching staff with positive feedback as well as constructive advice.

Regards,

David Whewell | Principal
