Senior Girls Football

Congratulations to our Senior Women's Football team who WON the Eastern Metropolitan Region Grand Final (Tuesday 26 July), after defeating Ringwood Secondary College in a tough contest!

Ringwood were very fast and fierce at the contest but our girls were up for the fight.  Our control of the play and accuracy in front of goal proved too much in the end.

A fantastic team effort by all who played with special mentions to Paula Pavic who was dominant in the ruck and around the ground, Scarlett Potter in the centre, linking the play and getting us started with a brilliant goal, the Hoskin Twins (Jess and Cait) who were strong competitors along with Jaz Hood who played her heart out after battling illness. Amelie Moore, our skipper, was strong in defense where she took almost every mark that came her way, Madeline Laven and Holly Habenshcuss who played in various positions throughout the match and did so brilliantly.

Each player contributed to the success of the team on the day.  It was an absolute pleasure to watch and be a part of. I look forward to seeing how the girls do in the next round of competition where we take on Wodonga Senior Secondary in the Quarter Finals.

Intermediate and Senior Boys Netball

On Monday 25 July, the Intermediate and Senior Boys Netball teams participated in the Eastern Metropolitian Region Boys Netball competition.

The Intermediate team gave it their all, but unfortunately did not make finals. Thank you to Ella McCallum, Jennifer Gray, Summer Durrant, Nikki Williams and Abby Gardiner for helping coach and score.

The Senior Boys won all their pool matches and played some outstanding netball. Unfortunately, we lost the Semi Final to Wantirna College by 1 point. Each student played their absolute best and it was a very physical and highly skilled game of netball.

Thank you to Ava Van Leeput, Taiy Wallis and Mr Stuart for helping coach the day and give some great feedback to the students.

I personally would like to thank the Year 11/12 boys for committing to training and practice matches in preparation for the day. It was an absolute pleasure to work with the group and help improve their skills and tactical knowledge of the game.

Year 8 Boys Football

This week the Year 8 Boys AFL team competed at the Eastern Metropolitan Region Final.

The game was a huge challenge for us. Although the boys fought hard for the entire match, and there were countless individual and team highlights, we were unsuccessful against the strong Rowville SC outfit.

As coaches, we had set some goals for the match and asked the boys to play a certain style of football to combat Rowville’s strengths. We were extremely proud that the boys were able to execute the game plan we had asked them to try.

Best players for Lilydale included: Patrick Murphy, Ewan Hills, Bryn Ballagh, Tristen Emary, Hunter Ryan and Mitch Lodge.

Thanks to all parents and family who came to support the team.
