Year 7/8 Girls Football

On Thursday week 7, 24 year 7 and 8 girls headed out onto a muddy oval in Reservoir. Our first game was against Preston. From the first bounce, we knew we had a tough game on our hands. Stella kicked a sensational goal in the first quarter to get us on the scoreboard.  Despite all girls fighting really hard,  Preston got the best of us, coming away with a 20 point win. Our second game was against Thornbury. This game was much more even and we were able to come away with a 5 point win. Well done to all the girls for their enthusiasm and effort throughout the day and keeping a positive attitude despite the coldness and mud.

Year 8 Boys Football

Year 8 footy had a big day out of footy. They played 4 games in a jam-packed footy extravaganza. With great team spirit and some outstanding individual and team efforts the boys looked set for the next round. In all 4 games the boys did not concede a point. They had a great team spirit and showed great humility through the day.

Year 8 Soccer

The Year 8 boys performed really well on the day, beating William Ruthven Secondary College and Reservoir High and ultimately succeeding against Preston High in the final. A big congrats to all players for proceeding to the regional finals, which are coming up soon.

Year 8 Badminton

At Year 8 interschool badminton day, Northcote played both an A and B team for both Male/Mixed and Female competitions. All four teams played really well and we saw huge improvement on the day from training, with most players winning at least one of their games. The Boys A team played really fantastically taking even the best teams to high point sets. Overall the Boys A team came fourth for the day, losing closely to Reservoir for 3rd place in some tight matches. The Girls A team were very impressive winning both games in their pool and taking out 2nd for the day in the Finals against Reservoir High School. Overall the students had an awesome day out and represented the school fantastically!

Year 7/8 Netball

We done to our Year 7 Girls Netball teams and our Yr 7/8 Boys netball teams. All teams played a high standard of netball and showed great teamwork throughout the day. Thank you to our Student coaches Jade Williams and Ben Holehouse for coaching on the day.

Year 9/10 Netball

Our Year 9/10 Netball teams competed in the divisional competition at Narrandjeri Stadium on June 5.  Our boys team combined well to have a couple convincing wins throughout the day against William Ruthven and Preston but lost in their last match against Thornbury.

In the girls competition our B team had convincing wins against Thornbury and Preston to finish the day on top of their pool. In the A section our girls had comfortable wins against Reservoir and Lalor which qualified them to play off against Thornbury in the final.  In the final Thornbury came out strong and scored the first 5 goals.  Our girls switched into gear to level the scores.  The teams were going goal for goal until the dying minutes where Thornbury a few quick ones in the end.  Well done to all of our Intermediate netball teams, a great effort by all.
