INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

Lilydale Street Fair

Performances

Congratulations to the students from our LHS and Stage Bands who performed on the main stage at the ‘Lilydale Street Fair’ on Saturday 3rd December.  Special thanks to Mrs Ventura for all of the extra rehearsals and transport of equipment, to Matt Paladino for keeping us all hydrated and to Erin’s sister Emily, who joined us on the clarinet for the morning.

Our 2022 Alumni were farewelled at their Valedictory dinner at Crown Palladium on Thursday 8 December, with entertainment provided by our Year 12 Music students throughout the evening. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to music during your LHS years.  We wish you well in your future endeavours.

Both Year 9 and 10 Award Assemblies opened with musical performances including a wonderful vocal duet from Mackenzie Reid and Taylah Mae Gundry and group performance with Noah Vincent, Ayla Harnett, Emmaline Greaves, Emily Geerling and Tom Carden. Thank you for sharing your music with us.

Melbourne Youth Orchestra

Congratulations Erin Allison for being accepted into the Melbourne Youth Orchestra summer school at Melbourne University. Erin will participate in workshops and rehearsals with over 600 other musicians, culminating in a performance at Hamer Hall. Well done, Erin!

Break-up Celebration

It was wonderful to celebrate the success of our bands and ensembles at our break-up last Friday. Students enjoyed each other’s company, sharing stories about performances throughout the year while sharing some yummy Christmas delights.

This was also an opportunity to farewell Mr Abbott who is retiring after teaching percussion at LHS for nearly 20 years. We will miss him dearly.

Return of HIRED Instruments

Emails have been sent home to students who have not returned their hired school instrument. Please ensure these are returned or contact Ms Goode in the PAC for any queries.
