Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach Easter, the Bible reminds us of the centrality of Jesus to the occasion. The prophet Isaiah writes in the Bible 'See, my servant will act wisely, he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted' (Isaiah 52: 13). We are reminded that Jesus is a servant who came to serve us, not to be served (Mark 10: 45), that Jesus was lifted up on the cross, just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness (John 3: 14) and that Jesus was also raised again on the third day. Jesus was also exalted to the Highest Place by the Father and given the name above all names (Philippians 2: 9).
Isaiah continues: "Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors". We are reminded that after his resurrection, Jesus will be exalted and given a portion among the great (Philippians 2:9). He was poured out for us (Matthew 26:28). He was numbered with transgressors (Matthew 27:38; Mark 15:27; Luke 22:37, 23:32) and He bore our sins (1 Peter 2:24) - He bore the sin of many (Hebrews 9:28) and He intercedes for us (Romans 8:34). What a wonderful message that reminds us of the great hope in Christ that we enjoy this Easter!
P & F
Thanks to our P & F for the work that they continue to do in support of our school, we are excited about the arrival of our new 3D printers and portable speaker system for school events. Our P & F have also supported the Middle of Term Breakfast (which happened at lunchtime this term!) with hot cross buns, pancakes for Shrove Tuesday, and donuts for Harmony Day. We had planned to host a welcome BBQ for Foundation families as well this term, which has now been postponed to Friday 13 May.
Solar Buddy Program
Our Year 5/6 students are participating in the Solar Buddy program and constructing solar lights which will be sent to families living in poverty in Vanuatu who do not currently have the benefit of electricity. This is a wonderful project which will significantly improve the lives of families living in poverty and also provide the opportunity for our students to engage in STEM learning, community service, and international mindedness.
We will provide the opportunity to make donations to the program via the QKR! App. More information regarding the program is available in the YouTube video below.
Parent-Teacher Interviews
Thank you for your engagement with parent-teacher interviews online over the past week, as I appreciate that it is a different format from usual. I trust that it provided a meaningful opportunity to discuss your child's learning and progress at school so far this year and give my thanks to our dedicated team of teachers for all of their efforts in preparing for these interviews in a different format. Our P & F have also kindly arranged to put on a morning tea to thank our admin staff and teachers for all that they do, particularly in an interesting term!
Blessings,
Will
