VCE DRAMA

Unnatural Selection

On Thursday 2 June, Unit 1 and Unit 3 Drama students presented their ensemble SAC performances to family, friends, staff and past students.

This year, the students used the stimulus ‘Unnatural Selection; the moral, social and environmental impact of artificial intelligence and genetic engineering.’

Over a 10-week period each of the 4 groups apply a range of play-making techniques to develop characters and narrative within a devised, eclectic work.

A significant component of the course, the ensemble task, required students to work collaboratively to explore the scientific and fictional histories of AI and GE, whilst taking a glimpse of what life on earth may be like in the future.

All of the performances were highly entertaining and the students presented themselves in a most composed and professional manner.

During the evening, the students' performances were assessed and moderated by a panel of experienced VCE Drama staff comprising myself, Angela Louis and Narelle McGrotty.

Thank you and congratulations to everyone involved. This was a most successful evening and we look forward to presenting the Unit 2 and Unit 4 Solo Performances later in the year.
